Good news! The Voc Ed bill is moving!
May 18, 2005: Senate Ways and Means Committee advances the Voc-ed Creditable Service Bill (formerly SB1555 and renumbered as SB2057) to the Senate floor.
May 19, 2005: Senate suspends its rules and passes the bill, orders it to a third reading, and engrosses it, 37-0. The bill is now headed to the House Ways and Means Committee for its consideration and, if voted out favorably, it goes to the House floor for a vote.
Action is needed now!
Voc-ed teachers should call their state representative and ask him or her to lobby Rep. Robert DeLeo (D-Winthrop), chairman of House Ways and Means, to report SB2057 out favorably and move it to the House for a vote.
If you know your state representatives name, call the State House switchboard at 617.722.2000 and ask to be transferred to the appropriate office. If you do not know your representative's name, please click here to find it out.
Acknowledgements: Sen. Michael Morrissey (D-Quincy), the bills lead sponsor, was instrumental in moving the bill forward. Please drop him a note (State House Room 413D, Boston, MA 02133) or give him a call and say,"Thank you."
