Massachusetts Child: Helping Children in Need

Every day in nearly every public school in Massachusetts, there is a child whose education suffers because he or she is not on a level playing field due to a lack of basic needs.

A student who is habitually late or absent, who wears a spring jacket on a cold winter day, or who makes careless errors because of an inability to see the text or hear the instructions, is not a child ready to learn.

Please Note:
The Catastrophic Grant program has been discontinued.

The Matching Grant application deadline for 2007-08 is November 1, 2007.

Through its Matching Grant Program, the Massachusetts Child meets short-term crisis needs of students. It was established through a grant from the Massachusetts Teachers Association. MTA members and friends of the children of Massachusetts supplement the fund with their generous donations.

For information about how to make a donation or for other details, contact The Massachusetts Child, 20 Ashburton Pl., Boston, MA 02108, 617-878-8265, or by e-mail: snathan@massteacher.org.
