Teacher retirement incentive bill filed

SB1988 Teacher Retirement Incentive

This retirement incentive bill, after school committee approval, would permit teachers who are at least 55 years of age with 20 or more years of creditable service, to increase their years of service by up to 5 years. Upon its approval, the appropriate school committee would reimburse the State Teachers Pension Fund for the additional pension costs. The number of teachers eligible to apply and the increased length of service allowed are determined by a vote of the appropriate school committee.

(MTA supports this bill and teachers interested should call or e-mail their own state senator and state representative and ask them to support SB1988.
