Vocational Ed creditable service bill advances in House

A bill for vocational education teachers, previously passed by the Senate, has taken an important step toward final passage.  On Tuesday morning, July 5, the House Committee on Ways and Means reported the bill out favorably.

Senate Bill 2057 allows buyback of creditable service for vocational education teachers.  The bill will now be sent to the House Committee on Steering and Policy for scheduling House floor action.

It is not yet known when the bill will come to the House floor, but MTA will keep you updated on the progress of the bill.

Your calls to your legislators have been important in helping to get this bill through the legislative process.  While we do not anticipate any problems in the House, it is not too early to contact your Representatives to urge their support for the bill when it comes to the House floor.
