Candidate Recommendation Committee members sought
Nominations will close December 30 for the election of 10 members to the MTA Candidate Recommendation Committee.
There is one opening in each of the state's 10 Congressional districts. The terms are for three years. Each candidate and each committee member must reside in the congressional district to be represented. [Map of Massachusetts Congressional Districts]
Any MTA member interested in running for the CRC should contact Diane Foley in the MTA Division of Governance by calling 617-878-8217 or e-mailing email@example.com to request a nomination form.
The nomination form and a biographical statement of not more than 100 words must be received by Dec. 30.
Candidates will be provided upon request with lists of MTA Annual Meeting delegates for their respective congressional districts, along with names and addresses.
If the number of candidates is equal to or less than the number of positions to be filled, elections may be waived and the candidates declared elected to the positions in question.
Ballots that include the biographical statements will be mailed to the electorate on the first Friday in February (Feb. 6) and must be returned no later than 5 p.m. on the last Friday in February (Feb. 27). Candidates who are elected via the ballot process or the election waiver will start their terms on March 15. The terms expire on March 14, 2012.
Members of the Candidate Recommendation Committee are eligible to be elected for two consecutive three-year terms. In no event can a person hold one of these positions for more than six consecutive years. After one year out of office, a member is again eligible to run for the Candidate Recommendation Committee.
