Stop Unfair Pension Cuts
The state Senate plans to vote on a pension bill on Thursday, September 15, that would significantly cut benefits for future employees, requiring them to work longer for smaller pensions. The MTA opposes this bill.
All Massachusetts public employees pay the vast majority of their own pension costs, with new teachers paying more than 90 percent. Massachusetts public employees do not receive Social Security, saving taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars a year.
Under the Senate bill, some employees would be paying more than 100 percent of the costs of their own pension benefits. The changes are unjustified and unfair.
Please send an e-mail NOW urging your senator to vote “no” on the pension bill.
