The Massachusetts Child

Did you know that every MTA preK-12 local is eligible to receive $750 or more each school year to help students succeed?

The Massachusetts Child

It's true. Since 1996, The Massachusetts Child has been providing grants to preK-12 locals to cover the costs of a wide range of items and services, including school supplies, educational field trips, medical needs and clothing. The Mass Child, a charitable corporation established by the MTA, NOW gives grants of $750 or more, depending on the size of your association, to help students in need.

The grant program is open to all preK-12 MTA locals. Locals with 500 or fewer members may receive up to $750 per school year. Locals with more than 500 members are  eligible to receive more – up to $1.50 for each member.

This winter, the Mass Child is also offering an additional $250 to MTA prek-12 locals to buy warm clothes – winter coats, boots, hats and more – for students. These funds are available to the first 50 MTA locals who apply by January 30. Click here for more details . Mass Child board member Maureen Viturale is also available to answer questions. She can be reached at 413-562-1462 or by email at mojo11@comcast.net .

A fact sheet is available here.  Need a reimbursement form?  Click here.  For information about how to make a donation or for other details, contact The Massachusetts Child, 20 Ashburton Pl., Boston, MA 02108, 617-878-8265, or email Sarah Nathan, MTA communications consultant, at  snathan@massteacher.org .
