MTA members join huge Boston Common rally for dignity, equality and justice

MTA members at Boston Women's March

A large contingent of MTA members was among the crowd of 175,000 people on Boston Common rallying for equality, dignity, justice and the rights of working people.

MTA President Barbara Madeloni was among the speakers at the Boston Women's March on Saturday, Jan. 21.

“We will stand by our values and vision,” she told the huge crowd on Boston Common. “We will link arms. We will not back down. We will live courage and hope, and together we will realize a world in which each is secure and all may flourish.”

Some members came to MTA headquarters in Quincy before making the trip into Boston so they could make signs and meet up with fellow educators for the historic event. MTA members also participated in marches and events were held in Washington D.C., as well as elsewhere around the state — including in Pittsfield and Greenfield.
