NEA American Indian/Alaska Native Issues Conference

The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) is hosting the 2008 NEA American Indian/Alaska Native Issues Conference June 6-8 in Raleigh, NC. The conference will focus on issues pertinent to American Indian and Alaska Native students and educators.

Friday’s activities will be held at the NCAE Center, and will include a Cultural Celebration representing the eight American Indian tribes from North Carolina, dinner, and performances by an American Indian drum group and youth dance group.
 
Saturday’s activities will be held at the Marriott Crabtree Valley Hotel in Raleigh. Four concurrent breakout sessions will be offered in the morning. The afternoon’s offerings include a special presentation on the American Council of Indian Education Annual Report and panel discussion on American Indian/Alaska Native issues. NEA President Reg Weaver will deliver the keynote address during lunch.

The conference will conclude on Sunday with the American Indian/Alaska Native Caucus’ business meeting.
