The Retired Members Committee hosts a Speaker Series on Wednesdays, providing retired educators with opportunities to stay informed and connected.
Each session features knowledgeable speakers — including MTA leaders, policy experts and fellow members — who share insights, updates, and practical tools. Participants can deepen their understanding of current challenges, gain new skills and stay active in advocacy efforts that support students, schools and educators across the Commonwealth.
Beyond learning, the Speaker Series offers a space to reconnect with colleagues, build community and continue contributing your voice and experience to the ongoing work of strengthening public education.
Upcoming
Artificial Intelligence: In Our Lives and in Our Schools (part of the Retiree Speaker Series)
Where: Virtual
When: March 4, 3-4:30 p.m.
Whether we like it or not, Artificial Intelligence tools are becoming a presence in our lives and in our schools, colleges and universities. But is this actually inevitable, or do we have a chance to make choices about our future? Join guest speaker Audrey Watters to discuss the impact on how we live our lives and the educational, policy, and contractual implications of these tools for our students, staff, and faculty. We will also explore ideas for future advocacy efforts and opportunities MTA members can take at the local level needed to ensure AI use meets the needs of our communities, not the needs of AI companies.
