About MTA and NEA Retired Membership
The MTA and the NEA offer annual and lifetime retired membership options, with the membership year running from July 1 through June 30.
Annual dues payers receive a renewal bill each summer. Membership cards for the forthcoming year are issued upon receipt of the renewal dues payment.
Lifetime membership requires a one-time dues payment. Membership automatically rolls forward into each new membership year and a card request is generated each August.
Membership cards are accepted by vendors through the end of August each year (rather than June) to allow time for the issuance of new annual cards.
NEA Retired membership is available at a reduced rate for Education Support Professionals, who's work keeps students healthy, safe, supported, engaged and challenged so they are ready to learn.
ESPs include school employees in the following jobs:
- Clerical services
- Custodial and maintenance services
- Food services
- Health and student services
- Paraeducators
- Security services
- Skilled trades
- Technical services
- Transportation services
