To celebrate public education as back-to-school season is in full swing, the Massachusetts Teachers Association today launched “Because of an Educator,” a digital advertising campaign featuring Massachusetts educators, parents, students and graduates sharing personal stories about the educators who changed their lives.

The ads highlight the relationships that help students feel welcome, discover their abilities and build their futures. The digital ads begin running Friday and will continue through the end of October.

“An educator’s influence doesn’t end when a student leaves the classroom. It lives on in the careers they pursue, the challenges they overcome and the people they become,” said MTA President Matt Bach. “Our ‘Because of an Educator’ ad campaign puts those stories front and center and recognizes the extraordinary skill and commitment that educators bring to our communities every day.”

The campaign features voices from communities including Marblehead, New Bedford, Holyoke, Springfield and Wayland, with stories spanning public K-12 schools, vocational education and community college. Participants describe educators who helped them find their confidence, develop new skills and see possibilities they hadn’t imagined for themselves.

“Every student deserves to feel seen, supported and capable of doing something they once thought was out of reach,” said MTA Vice President Deb Gesualdo. “Public school educators – preK-16 – make those moments possible every day. Hearing from students and families brings that work to life and reminds us why supporting our educators and public schools and colleges matters.”

The ads will appear across digital video, social media and connected television, such as Roku and Hulu. The campaign invites viewers to reflect on the educators who made a difference in their own lives. Bolt Creative Group, a Boston-based production company, filmed and edited the ads.
