Retired Members

Standing Strong for Public Education
MTA retirees are a powerful, organized force for change – winning key statewide victories and continuing to advocate for human and civil rights and strong public education.
MTA retirees have a voice and make a difference. They are a powerful force in statewide campaigns, including recent efforts to defeat charter school expansion, pass key pieces of legislation such as the Student Opportunity Act, the Fair Share Amendment and the repeal of the MCAS high school graduation requirement and WEP/GPO. MTA retirees are committed to human and civil rights and advocate for quality public education.

Retired Members

MTA retirees make an enormous difference. Retirees are a powerful force in statewide campaigns, including efforts to defeat charter school expansion, pass the Fair Share Amendment and repeal the MCAS high school graduation requirement, as well as pass key pieces of legislation on the state level, the Student Opportunity Act, and the federal level, WEP/GPO.

The MTA offers free retirement counseling for members at convenient locations and times.

Retired Members Committee

The Retired Members Committee coordinates events and programs for retired members, including the First Wednesday Speaker Series.

Retired Speaker Series

The Retired Members Committee hosts a speaker series on the first Wednesday of each month, providing opportunities to learn and connect.

Wisdom Warriors

The Wisdom Warriors are MTA retirees who provide support, solidarity, and encouragement to local unions across the state. With over 200 members ready to respond, they bring energy, humor, and friendship while advocating for public education and MTA-sponsored legislation.
