LGBTQ+ Conference

The MTA's first LGBTQ+ Conference, on Friday, November 13, and Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the Boston Marriott in Burlington. Our inaugural theme is “Celebrating All with Pride” and our conference is free and open to all MTA members.

This conference is built on the work done at our first LGBTQ+ Summit, which brought members together to talk honestly about workplace safety, intersectionality, and how this moment is affecting our schools. Queer and trans educators were in that room, and so were the allies who stand alongside them.

Friday, Nov. 13: A Celebration

 Welcome reception with exhibitors, dinner and an evening of drag and dancing with Mz. Clementine KuLayd.

Saturday. Nov. 14: A Day of Learning

10 workshops scheduled across two sessions. Topics include:

  • Supporting transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming students.
  • Lobbying training from NEA's Government Relations team on the attacks moving through Congress.
  • Bargaining and organizing strategies from the Environmental Health and Safety Committee which turned members' work at the March 2026 summit into strategies to take back to your local associations. 
  • Educators' rights under shifting policy.
  • Starting a Gay-Straight Alliance.
  • What LGBTQ+ students say they want from the adults in their schools. 

Four of the workshops run twice, so a hard choice in the morning becomes a second chance after lunch.

As the conference theme indicates, everyone is welcome. Free and open to all MTA members.
